Headshots for the Entertainment Industry
A Headshot is a photographic technique where the total focus of the photograph is a person's face.
Actors, performers and artists are generally required to include a headshot photo, along with a bio and other photographs when auditioning for roles in theater, film, television, even radio voiceovers and music auditions. A performer will often have several headshots featuring different poses and expressions to give a director or casting agent an idea of a subject's potential range of appearances.
Headshots are personal and artistic in nature. They may display a person in a variety of poses -- some facing slightly off-center, possibly toward the shoulder, others may be full on frontal as each individual's physical features are different, requiring poses that reflect a person's true visage. It is the job of the photographer to shoot the performer or artist, capturing the subject in the best possible light and surroundings, which present the person in a flattering yet honest and real image of themselves.
